I’m responsible for providing leadership of, and overseeing, the day-to-day operations of Rise, including the charity’s financial, HR, governance and performance management systems and processes.
I’m also responsible for supporting the CEO with the growth and development of the charity. I help to create, develop and implement organisational strategy and business improvements, enhancing the charity’s strategic relationships and advocating for the role physical activity plays in improving lives, communities and places.
I’m proud of our significant organisational growth (staff numbers and income) which enables us to positively impact more people, and that we have built a staff culture centred around autonomy and wellbeing that maximises outcomes. I’m also proud of our business operations, which are incredibly effective and efficient (as reflected by auditing and feedback) and the numerous projects and programmes I’ve led that have helped to get thousands of people more physically active.
Before joining what was then Tyne and Wear Sport in 2007, I predominantly worked in the public sector for a couple of local authorities in project management and supporting local communities. This included leading on the organisation of events and programmes focused on health and wellbeing, physical activity and reducing childhood obesity.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family, finding time to relax through weekends away or on holidays, and spending time outdoors, walking and cycling. I also play a part in supporting other organisations, including as a non-executive director for Age UK County Durham and as a primary school governor.
