I lead on creating, planning and implementing the strategic direction of Rise. This includes overseeing the complete operation of Rise in accordance with our strategic plan and in compliance with the Sport England Code of Governance and Charity Commission requirements.
I’m proudest of seeing the growth in areas where we make a difference to North East communities, including through collaborative strategic working with stakeholders including seven local authorities, the North East Combined Authority, local NHS organisations, other active partnerships nationally, Sport England and local VCFSE organisations.
Since joining what was then known as Tyne & Wear Sport in 2019, I’ve led two charity mergers (acquisitions by Rise), overseen a full rebrand of the charity to reflect its wider geographical remit and grown the staff team from 10 people to nearer 50 in 2026.
I led the move to instigate a four-day working week to support all Rise colleagues to achieve a better work/life balance and be able to bring their best and most productive selves to work for the advantage of our beneficiaries.
Before this, I was a Commercial Solicitor acting for a range of public and private sector clients in relation to the negotiation and conclusion of large-scale infrastructure projects, and then Head of Sport and Community Activity at Manchester Active, where as an executive team member, I had lead responsibility for health, wellbeing and community activity programmes across 18 leisure facilities including the Commonwealth Games legacy facilities.
Outside of work I’m a Non-Executive Director at England Netball and Senior Independent Non-Executive Director at the RAF Football Association. I’m also a keen netballer and runner, a season ticket holder at Newcastle United Football Club and a proud mum of two.
