The Sunderland event is part of the Team GB and Paralympics GB’s Get Set Path to Paris programme – an interactive challenge, funded by Sport England and Spirit of 2012, that sees children across the UK getting active to virtually travel around the world ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Rise has delivered the Path to Paris programme and invited eleven schools across Sunderland to walk, jog, run and wheel the 555 miles from Sunderland to Paris in time for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Demi visited the school, as well as some of the others who took part, to share her motivational story to help inspire the pupils to clock up their steps and miles to power them on their journey to Paris. Demi shared her compelling story of how she began her career as a footballer in Sunderland and has gone on to become an integral part of City’s successes over recent years, having helped her side to seven trophies (including three Women’s FA Cups, four Continental League Cups and one Women’s Super League title).
Each of the 11 schools will be hosting their own celebration day in July to recognise their achievements with children, parents and carers invited to attend.
