The topic of safeguarding children in sport is widely recognised and discussed, but there is often less awareness around safeguarding adults. So, what is safeguarding adults?
The Ann Craft Trust’s message is clear: everyone has a right to be treated with respect and dignity, and everyone deserves to be safe. The Ann Craft Trust supports sports clubs and organisations to create safe spaces for adults through e-learning and face to face training. They also have some excellent free resources available on their website including guidance and templates, videos and podcasts.
For Safeguarding Adults Week, the Ann Craft Trust have organised a series of FREE workshops, webinars and events with key partners including understanding professional boundaries, and understanding county lines.
At Rise, we’ve also organised two free workshops for volunteers and members of sports clubs and organisations. The first workshop will focus on drug and alcohol harm, and will provide sport volunteers with the knowledge to spot signs of drug and alcohol harm and signpost to local services for support. The second workshop focuses on preventing radicalisation, to support sports clubs and organisations in recognising the signs of radicalisation.
